Indeed, the council have just spent thousands of pounds laying down brand new Tarmac, unknowingly, for the coming season. This means only one thing, Speed's Up, Times Down! Best times to catch the illegal racing and standing start quarter milers is Mon-Fri. between noon and 3pm and from noon onwards at the week-ends. Okay, all you petrol heads stop slobbering and keep in mind that 25 degree bend when illegally storming down the Strip.
We do not condone illegal Drag Racing, that is why we sent a letter to alleged pint-sized policeman Chief Supt. Neil Wain asking which Authority, if not his own, do we report this highly dangerous activity to, with a view to nipping it in the bud. On 4th May 2006 a letter was sent describing the dangerous events taking place on New Bridge Lane but the letter was obviously swept under his brand new carpet in his brand new office on Europa Way before writing yet another birthday card to a hardened criminal.
We are not making this up, yes he spends his valuable time and spends council-tax payers' money sending birthday cards to known criminals. To date 10 criminals have been recipients of this badge of honour since it's inception in September 2005.
Hope this (see below) never happens on your watch Neil. You know the law of averages will eventually bring Death here but do you know anything of Tort Law? Any accident involving speed on this lane and we will be the first to know about it. Stockport's psuedo top cop will be the second. Inrecent memory a lamppost was destroyed in brad daylight by a boy racer It's a disgrace that Stockport Police Farce stand by and allow this sort of thing to happen. Here we go.

Mersey Street, Portwood, Stockport overshadowing The Midway Tavern, sited on the centre section of New Bridge Lane where dangerous and illegal Drag Racing takes place regularly with the knowledge of alleged Chief Supt. Neiol Wain. The nights are getting shorter now and soon the weather will be enticing visitors to the pub which is about to undergo a month long refurbishment. Tuesday evenings are without doubt the busiest for these entertaing but highly illegal Drag Racers, mostly bikers on this night for some reason. It's free, so come along and enjoy. Guaranteed racing as, contrary to belief, the cops aren't interested in illegal activity involving any type of vehicle passing through Portwood. Isn't that right Neil?

.. from the 'Strip'. The dangerous 'sport' of street racing is gathering a regular and enthusiastic support. Tuesday nights are now de rigeur thanks to the lighter nights. A pattern is begining to emerge with the illegal racers. They come along between 10am-3pm and after 7pm when 'The Strip' is at it's quietest. Very canny because they know that Neil's Nincompoops won't be around to catch them even though he is aware of this illegal activity. As you know it will be a complete waste of our time to report this to Neil because he is just not interested in his so-called duty of care to the public he serves. The powerful bikes are still speeding up the NZR and can be seen right up to the point they disappear from view at the top end of West Park Road but can be heard right up their braking point. Saturday 23rd Feb. The 'Strip' saw it's first Sierra Cosworth RS Turbo. Nicknamed 'Street Lethal' it did only three passes but assumed the record of fastest recorded time since November 2007, 88mph. Jeez what a motor.
*** STOP PRESS It seems The Strip has some competioin. It was reported in the local rag that the cops have broke up a 'drag meet' over at Cheadle Royal called Operation Vespa. Well on closer reading that is an apt name for the drag meet was only some youths who had set up a circuit to 'race' around, jeez that's a nancy drag meet. The real Stockport Dragstrip is the centre section of New Bridge Lane.
We do not condone the antics of the 'Boy Racers' on New Bridge Lane, it is highly illegal and dangerous but hey the Borough Commander Neil Wain is aware of it, remember the letter of 6th May 2006 Mr. Wain? A beer on the picnic table outside The Midway Tavern, glorious weather and even a few Harley Davidsons cruising by this is pure manna.
